NORMAL AND EXCEED BURST CONFIGURATION WITH CAR

Normal (NB) and exceed (EB) burst values are a function of the bandwidth bwspecified by the

rate-limit

command of CAR.

Setting of such values has to be according to the following formula:

NB = bw * time  / 8			

EB = 2 * NB

where the recommended value for time is 0.5 sec (TCP benefits from large burst tolerance) and bw is expressed in bits/sec. [end]
