ADDRESSES:
the ctrl port IP addresses is already configured. On the other hand, in each test you will have to specify the IP address of the data ports.

INFN:
- ctrl port 192.168.72.2
- Data Port (eth slot #2): 192.168.72.3
Uni Twente: ctrl port 192.168.92.2
- ctrl port 192.168.32.2
- Data Port (eth slot #2): 192.168.32.3
Uni Utrecht:

Don't forget to configure an IP secondary address on the diffserv test router (e.g. 192.168.72.1 at INFN) and attach it to the interface which connects the router to the SmartBits.

STATIC ROUTES:
Uni Twente, Uni Utrecht and INFN have to add one or two static routes (the number depends on the site) in the test router configuration:

Uni Twente:

Uni Utrecht:

INFN:

ETHERNET PORTS:
We will make use of the ctrl eth port (in the backpanel) -this port is used when the SmartApplications try to connect to a SmartBits-, and 1 data port. The ethernet port we have to use is in slot 2.

Note: slot1 has a special firmware version which was intalled for MPLS testing, a firware version which *cannot* be used by SmartApplications.

GPS DEBUGGING:
SmartApplications does not allow the user to check if the SmartBits is correctly receiving the GPS clocl from the GPS receiver. This can be indirectly tested when running a latency test, since the SmartApplications reports on the result of some preliminary ongoing synch operations .

TESTING

STEP 1: configure the connection to two (or three) SmartBits (specify the ctrl IP addresses of the corresponding boxes). You can connect to up to 8 SmartBits. MENU SEQUENCE:

STEP 2: connect. MENU SEQUENCE:

STEP 3: configure the type of latency test you want to run. You can save test configurations in files so that if you want to run the same test several times you don't need to reconfigure it each time.
Select one or more couples of ports you want to use for your test by selecting one item under "Source", one under "destination" and then moving this selection to the third column ("Test Pairs") through the right harrow.
For each couple, both ports have to be configured in the following way :
- define the speed of the int (10M or 100M) and choose half or full duplex.
- select the protocol and set it to "IP" (TCP is not available, an alternative choice can be "UDP")
- Destination MAC is the MAC of the eth or ATM interface of *the local router* (the gateway)
- SmartCard MAC is optional, leave the default
- specify the IP address of the port and the gateway
IMPORTANT RECOMMENDATION:
You have to enable ARP in the following way:
