NETCOM SYSYEMS SmartBits:
UTILIZATION GUIDELINES: SmartApplications

ADDRESSES:
the ctrl port IP addresses is already configured. On the other hand, in each test you will have to specify the IP address of the data ports. Don't forget to configure an IP secondary address on the diffserv test router (e.g. 192.168.72.1 at INFN) and attach it to the interface which connects the router to the SmartBits.
STATIC ROUTES:
Uni Twente, Uni Utrecht and INFN have to add one or two static routes (the number depends on the site) in the test router configuration:
ETHERNET PORTS:
We will make use of the ctrl eth port (in the backpanel) -this port is used when the SmartApplications try to connect to a SmartBits-, and 1 data port. The ethernet port we have to use is in slot 2.

Note: slot1 has a special firmware version which was intalled for MPLS testing, a firware version which *cannot* be used by SmartApplications.

GPS DEBUGGING:
SmartApplications does not allow the user to check if the SmartBits is correctly receiving the GPS clocl from the GPS receiver. This can be indirectly tested when running a latency test, since the SmartApplications reports on the result of some preliminary ongoing synch operations .
