EF demo set-up
Goal: deployment of a voice-over-IP application and a multimedia
application to generate EF traffic to be scheduled with PQ and WFQ.
Test Description
- Network layout
- Applications:
- EF: Realserver and Realplay, mgen (for aggregation)
- BE: mgen (for congestion)
- Parameters:
- Queuing mechanism (PQ and WFQ) - 8 queues in total in both cases
- aggregation degree (number of Ef streams)
- Router configuration model:
- Stream profiles:
background stream profiles
- Test conditions:
- tx-ring-limit: 5 particles (constant)
- PVC: bandwidth 2 Mbps
Comments:
- Figure 1 plots the average RTT
measured through ping, where the probes are classified as EF and
are subject to EF queuing. Not only with WFQ the average is grater,
but also the [min, max] interval is larger. Pings were run in
parallel with real application EF traffic, in presence of congestion
and aggregation.

interval for different ping sizes
